We are less than one week from the solar eclipse and there is still time to register for the viewing event at the town hall if you haven't already. There are so many activities occurring that there will be something for everyone. You can start with 20 minutes of yoga to kick off the event led by Eugenie Doyle, join a sing-a-long led by Lee Kauppila, enjoy lunch from Queen Bee and dessert from the ReMarcAble Bakery, and wander over to the crafting and activities tables where you can make items from planets to constellations, to bracelets and more! There will also be a chance to stretch your legs when you take the planet walk where you can explore the solar system and learn some fun facts about each planet.
What else is happening? Great question! There will be a selfie photo booth set up to capture this moment for you, friends and family. The Monkton Museum and Historical Society may even put a copy of your photo into the time capsule that is being created that day! Have you ever looked through a astronomical telescope? Susan DeSimone and Roger Wallace are bringing their telescope to the party. Their astronomical telescope is equipped with a solar safety filter which will allow a close up view of the eclipse and possibly sunspots, flares and prominences.
If you haven't already sent in your RSVP, use the link below to let us know that you plan to attend and how many will be in your party. It will help us prepare for a good experience for everyone.
