Author Marion Nestle to Speak at Sterling College

Sterling College is proud to announce that award-winning author Marion Nestle will be presenting on campus. Her talk, “Food Politics: A View from 2014,” will be given on Friday, October 17, at 7 p.m. in Simpson Hall, Classroom 3. This talk is free and open to the public as part of the Vermont’s Table Speaker Series.

Nestle is the Paulette Goddard Professor in the Department of Nutrition, Food Studies, and Public Health at New York University. She is the author or co-author of seven books and numerous articles, including Food Politics: How the Food Industry Influences Nutrition, What to Eat, and Health and Safe Food: The Politics of Food Safety. She has won awards from the James Beard Foundation, World Hunger Year, and the Association for American Publishers.

“Marion Nestle is one of America’s leading voices for food systems that are both sustainable and just,” said Sterling College president Matthew Derr. “Her advocacy for neighborhood access to food, as well as corporate accountability, inspires Sterling College students as well as the Northeast Kingdom community. We look forward to her presentation.”
