PoemTown Randolph is now in full swing, with poems displayed throughout Randolph's downtown and on the floodplain forest trail that starts next to Valley Bowl off Prince St. The first live event is this Friday, April 5th at 7 PM at Kimball Public Library with a poetry reading by two well known Vermont poets, Hatsy McGraw and Gus Speth.
Hatsy McGraw has written poetry for over thirty years and has published in several literary magazines including The Anthology of New England Writers, Bloodroot, Hanging Loose, The Salon, and Across Borders as well as the anthology, Birchsong: Poetry Centered in Vermont. In 2004, she won the Robert Penn Warren Prize for Free Verse. Hatsy lives in Hartland, VT. with her husband, painter Tom McGraw, and their two cats, Leon and Dali.
Gus Speth is the author, co-author or editor of a dozen books including the American Crisis series published by Yale University Press. Between 2019 and 2024 he published five books of poetry. He is an active environmental advocate and activist and also served as law clerk to Supreme Court Justice Hugo L. Black. Speth and his wife Cameron split their time between central Vermont and coastal South Carolina.
