Central Vermont OLLI presents Rick Winston on Actors & Directors: Three Collaborations
The final part of OLLI's winter term begins this Wednesday - April 3 - at Montpelier's Savoy when Montpelier's master of film presents the first of three films that demonstrate special magic that can result from the collaborations certain directors and actors. Over the next three weeks, we'll enjoy the fruits of three of these joint efforts with Winston helping to explain the wonderful films resulting.
The opener is a Katharine Hepburn/Spencer Tracy classic, one of those romps that gives you a lift. Here are the details:
April 3 – Pat and Mike (1952)
This is one of seven films in which George Cukor directed Hepburn―this time in an Oscar-nominated role as a brilliant athlete who enlists the help of a sports promoter (Spencer Tracy) to help her maintain her confidence in winning despite her overbearing fiancé. Spencer Tracy and Katharine Hepburn positively shine.
Visit the Central Vermont OLLI website, https://learn.uvm.edu/olli/centralvt for descriptions of all three films.
Registration for the three remaining film programs in the series is $8 per program. Registration should be done online beforehand or by mail to UVM OLLI. If you decide to drop in at the last moment, you may send a check or pay online after the fact. All details are at https://learn.uvm.edu/olli/centralvt
