The first frosts have settled,
Turning the air sharp and crisp.
Gardens are being put to bed
Chimney smoke rises; the thinnest wisp.
The geese herald their leave taking
Their inner compass pointing South in a V
Poetry People are gathering around words
To share warmth through poetry.
