Green Up Vermont – Hinesburg Saturday, May 4th – Mark your Calendar
This is a quick reminder to mark your calendar and make plans to join neighbors, friends, and family to Green Up Hinesburg.
Hinesburg's Green Up will be like previous years. You will be able to pick up bags during the week before May 4th and Green Up any time up to and including that Saturday. We will have our community lunch at the town hall on Green Up day.
As in past years, you will be able to pick up Green Up bags from our Library and Town Hall starting on Saturday, April 27th. This allows Green Up to start early and acknowledger's our busy schedules which might keep some from participating on Green Up day. We will again utilize an on-line signup that allows volunteers to choose Green Up road sections by knowing which roads are already "claimed" and which roads are still open.
If you want to help further, we have several activities that need volunteers of all ages. These include:
● If you have a volunteer group that wants to participate on a project, call us so we can help you organize your efforts.
● Help set up and serve at our community lunch (11:00 – 1:00)
● If you have a truck, you can help with final pickup of roadside bags (1:00 – 4:00)

I've been our Green Up Community Coordinator for about 25 years and think it is time to step down. With that, I am asking if there is anyone (or more) who would consider taking over this volunteer position and running with it. I would certainly continue to support Green Up and share all the tools and systems we have in place; tools that make this volunteer position low stress and ready to go. I've found coordination for this event is reasonably easy because our system is well-defined and there are so many people who want to participate. It is a excellent example of how Hinesburg shines when volunteers of all ages jump in to support our community. We've also always had outstanding support by our town employees and Committees. I also think it is time to solicit some new fresh ideas to continue to improve our Green Up success.
