On Tuesday, March 26th at 5:00 PM at the Westmore Planning and Zoning Board meeting a community discussion will be held regarding a proposed 155ft (radio) lattice tower to be built by ITW. The Westmore community is already served by the existing emergency services system. This tower will not provide cellular and internet service as ITW isn't a wireless provider. (There is no guarantee telecommunication providers would co-locate antennas on the tower.)
The Public Utilities Company will decide whether to issue a permit or not in the next 30 days. If the permit is granted, the 155 ft. tower will be erected on Frog Hollow Lane, just off Peene Hill Road. If you value Lake Willoughby and the surrounding area's designation as a National Natural Landmark, your attendance at Tuesday's meeting is important. Folks living near the Barton/Westmore town line will want to be involved during the upcoming balloon test to see if this proposed tower would be visible from their property.
