Join the Weybridge Congregational Church to celebrate the richness and depth of Holy Week!
What is Holy Week, exactly? Great question, thanks for asking.
Holy Week is the time every year between Palm Sunday and Easter, when Christians of all backgrounds and beliefs tell the story of Jesus' journey from celebrated hero of the marginalized to agitator condemned to death by the powers-that-be. We turn to ritual and song, some ancient and some new, to remind ourselves that God (whom we know by many names: Spirit, Divine, Healer, and many more) makes themself known to us still in God's transformative love, hope, and grace.
Maundy Thursday Soup and Bread Supper & Worship
Thurs, 3/28, 5.30-6.30pm in our Fellowship Hall
We will share a simple soup dinner then have a brief time of worship. On Maundy Thursday, we remember the story of Jesus' last gathering with his disciples before his arrest, when he leaves them with the call to love one another.
Good Friday Multi-Church Service
Fri, 3/29, noon, St. Stephen's Episcopal Church in Middlebury
Several Middlebury-area Christian churches come together for this somber, stirring service remembering the story of Jesus' condemnation by Roman officials, rejection by so many in the crowds, and death by crucifixion.
Easter Morning
On Easter morning, we remember the good, confusing, almost unimaginable news that resurrection has defeated death, love is stronger than hate, hope cannot be extinguished, humility takes down power, and grace never runs out!
