Starksboro's Eclipse Party

Past event
Apr 8, 2024, 2:15 to 4:30 PM

Gather with other members of the community at the Village Center (behind town office and library) to experience the upcoming total eclipse of the sun on Monday, April 8. There are safe viewing glasses available at the public library and Donna Lescoe, member of the Vermont Astronomical Society will have a filtered telescope set up on the day to make sunspots visible. Gary Nowak, who spoke at the library on March 9th recommends viewing the eclipse with FILTERED wide-angle binoculars. Contact the library for information on finding and buying good quality filters for your binoculars. Come in to try our models of the sun and the moon, generously provided by ECHO, Leahy Center for Lake Champlain.

Parking and bathrooms will also be available at Robinson School. After the eclipse is completed, a potluck supper will be hosted by library staff at the First Baptist Church of Starksboro so we can compare notes on the eclipse experience.
