We are excited to have Christina Flateau offer a visible mending class at McIndoes Academy!
In a world where millions of pounds of textiles are discarded every year, there is a movement growing to preserve what we already have. Visible mending is a technique that not only strengthens and repairs clothing but creates a visual reminder of your commitment to "making do and mending". Learn simple techniques that can be transferred to various items in your life.
The cost for these workshops is $50 per participant. The first session will focus on techniques and practice - and you can begin to plot out your plan for your mend. The second session will yield a full mend and maybe some decorative details if you feel brave!
Needles, thread, and a variety of patches will be provided. Please bring an item in need of mending. Jeans are ideal - worn thighs or holes - woven fabrics of other types will work well too. Please avoid very stretchy or very delicate fibers for this introduction.
