Join us on Thursday, March 21 at 1:30 to visit the "Lost Mural" which now arches over the entryway to Ohavi Zedek Synagogue in Burlington. It has been hailed as an "international treasure" and an "accidental survivor of an otherwise vanished past." Its history is made up of many parts: the immigration of Lithuanian Jews to this unlikely place, Eastern European folk art and theater, questions of how best to restore a rare work of religious art, and finally the engineering feat that brought it to its latest home. The mural is now fully restored.
Our guide will be Dr. Jeff Potash, a historian of Vermont, a lifelong resident of Burlington, and a descendant of those immigrants whose heritage is represented in the mural.
Contact Jane Miller ( squirreljam37@gmail.com ) to confirm. We can arrange carpooling from Richmond.
