Community Center Task Force Virtual Forum Discussion

In fall 2023, the Northfield Community Center Task Force surveyed the town to gather residents' opinions on what they want in a potential community center. Co-chaired by Jeanne Bright and Cara Gauthier, the task force reviewed nearly 300 responses, aiming to guide their future work.

Respondents favored existing activities like parades, farmers' markets, and outdoor spaces like parks and trails. Preferences for activities at the community center included music and art lessons, crafting, and indoor/outdoor sports. When asked about priorities for a new community center, opinions varied, but there was a strong preference for renovating existing spaces. Regarding location, residents favored Depot Square and the Common, with weekends and evenings being the preferred times for center usage.

The task force has been deliberating on the next steps and is offering a virtual community forum on Tuesday, March 19th from 7 to 8:30 pm to discuss survey results and plans. Those interested can join the forum meeting through the video call link below or offer suggestions by contacting the task force directly at northfieldcommunitycenter@gmail.com.
