The Little Black Flannel Initiative is a week of fundraising events and an online auction to benefit the Junior League of Champlain Valley and the Williston Community Food Shelf. This initiative is based on the Little Black Dress Initiative, a week-long awareness and fundraising campaign that harnesses the power of social media to illustrate the restrictions poverty places on choices, opportunities, and access to resources.
Throughout the week of April 14 - 20th, there will be a variety of events and a silent auction that are open to all community members. Join us for one, or all, of the events, including:
On Tuesday April 16th - Mix & Mingle with the Junior League at The 126 (College Street in Burlington) from 5:00-7:00pm - Get to know the Junior League: an organization of women whose mission is to advance women's leadership for meaningful community impact through volunteer action, collaboration, and training.
On Wednesday April 17th - Open House at the Williston Community Food Shelf - 5:00-7:00 pm - Come get a tour of the Williston Food Shelf and meet the people who make it run! Light refreshments provided.
On Saturday April 20th - Flannel Walk up Mt. Philo, breakfast items & beverages will be provided - 9:00 am - We'll "tailgate" for breakfast in the parking lot before walking up the mountain in our flannels.
Come get to know other involved members of the community, and bring an item to donate to the Food Shelf - check out their website for their current needs.
