Aikido is a Japanese Martial Way, derived from highly effective self-defense techniques. We study those movements more like a dance, with one person offering an initial gift of energy (the attack), then following as fully as possible while the receiver redirects the energy, ending in a pin or throw. Wooden weapons training is also a part of the study.
Aikido study is about more than the movements on the mat. The true lessons are the ones that can be applied in daily life, as we become more responsive to those around us, attuned to our surroundings, and aware of the moment in which we live.
Aikido is all about fitting with the energy and timing of your partner, making it accessible for anyone at any age at any fitness level. Beginners and spectators always welcome.
