Nearly half of all girls around the world have no access to an education. Yet research shows that when a girl is educated, she can help lift her whole community out of poverty.
She's the First, a club at Harwood Union High School, is sponsoring a fundraiser featuring a raffle, light refreshments, and trivia games. For the first time, there will be a featured guest speaker from She's the First. The drawing will be held at the 1824 House in Waitsfield on Monday, March 18th at 5:00 p.m. to benefit girls who are the first in their families to graduate from high school in Ethiopia and Uganda.
Raffle prizes include day passes from Sugarbush, Mad River Glen, and Bolton, gondola Skyride summer/fall passes at Stowe Mountain, gift certificates from local restaurants, bags from Vermont North and Remarkable Things, art from local artists, a gift card from Baked Beads, books from Bridgeside Books, an overnight stay at Mad Bush, and more. Winners do not need to be present.
The club asks the community to support their goal to help make this a world where every girl chooses her own future.
Tickets are $5 each, or five for $20.
