The Community Dinner at Sterling College is this Friday night! This meal is free to the greater Craftsbury community, and is planned and prepared by students in the Local Sustainable Food Systems class. After the last three dinners, the students brainstormed a couple of changes and additions (aside from another table, or two):
The meal will start at 4:30 and run until 6:00pm - this will give everyone a little extra time to eat and mingle!
We will be introducing two donation boxes at the entrance to the Dunbar Dining Hall. The first donation box will be for monetary giving, and donations will go to the Sterling Facilities Fund. This fund is in honor of our former Director of Building Grounds, Kelly Jones - an exceptional human being with a profound love for over-easy eggs. The money from this fund goes directly to the improvement of campus facilities and dorms. The second donation box will be for clothing, books, and household items - a good excuse to come, enjoy a warm meal, and get your Spring cleaning started!
We will also have to-go containers available for folks to bring a meal back to loved ones who can't make it out.
This week's menu is Irish themed in celebration of St. Patrick's Day. Students will cook up Shepherd's Pie, topped with Colcannon (think mashed potatoes but with green stuff), fresh homemade biscuits and gravy, spinach salad with greens from the Sterling Garden, and a roasted sweet potato salad. The vegetarian option will be Chana Masala, and dessert will be Bailey's Cheese Cake (the alcohol is cooked off, don't worry).
Dinner is served at 4:30pm sharp - we look forward to seeing everyone!
