It’s campaign season! If you’ve turned on the radio or the TV over the past few weeks, you’ve probably heard candidates pitching the public on how they’ll best represent us once they’re in office. But how can we hold them accountable to acting on what our communities really need, and not just what’s politically expedient?
This week the Vermont Workers Center is collaborating with our movement partners -- including Green Mountain Self-Advocates, Vermont Center for Independent Living, 350Vermont, and AFT-Vermont -- to hold a series of Peoples Forums on Human Rights and the Economy. At these forums, we’ll be sharing stories about the interconnected crises in our communities, and how our movements for climate justice, disability and workers rights, education and healthcare, and a people’s budget are teaming up to advance a vision for people and the planet. And we’ll be challenging candidates on how they plan on following through to ensure our communities’ needs are met if they get elected.
