Hi Neighbors!

My name is Madeline Halsey and I am a local mixed-media artist working out of the Grist Mill Studios in East Calais. I am hosting a few workshops in the coming weeks at the studio space and would love to invite you to sign up!

a little bit about myself...

I have my Bachelor's Degree in Textile Design from Philadelphia University, where I studied print design and weaving. During my years at school, I created wallpaper and fabrics for both furniture and fashion design, as well as developed my brand, Fruits of Our Labor.

Shortly after graduating I moved to Montpelier and have been bartending in restaurants and bars all over central VT for the past 6 years. You may recognize me from my time behind the bar at Barr Hill and Oakes & Evelyn in the past few years, and more recently slingin beers at The Reservoir in Waterbury.

Just last year I decided to finally pursue Fruits of Our Labor full time and started to sell my paintings and prints. Now I'm onto the next chapter, expanding into workshops and classes!
I am offering two workshops:

2-day Botanical Mixed Media Workshop $210
Saturday 3/23 + Sunday 3/24 10am - 1pm

In this 2 day workshop we will cover the fundamentals of drawing, color theory, painting, and mixed media. Through sketchbook exercises we will explore developing each student's personal style, for the final project each student will create a botanical painting, drawing inspiration from their sketchbooks using at least 3 different mediums.

Fruit & the Female Form Class
Monday 3/25 5:30pm - 8:30pm $120

In this class we will learn the fundamentals of color theory, painting, and art history. Each student will create a fruit painting, drawing inspiration from the female form and botanicals.

These are introductory workshops. All levels are welcome!
