Would you like to learn more about Shelburne's zoning bylaw re-write project? The Shelburne Alliance for the Environment (SAFE) will host a series of community discussion sessions on Zoom. These sessions will address various issues related to the current project by the Planning Commission to rewrite our entire set of zoning bylaws. All Shelburne residents are invited to attend–for information, discussion, Q&A's and explanation of some of the recommendations that SAFE will make to the Planning Commission. The Zoom sessions will also be recorded and posted to the SAFE website.
The first discussion is on Monday, March 18, at 7-8 p.m. and will focus on Shelburne's rural areas covered in Article 3 and Article 7 of the current bylaw draft. Here is the Zoom link: https://us02web.zoom.us/j/89690023585?pwd=VlVDODdBVFFHVDQ3dVV2TUxSd2Q4QT09
The Planning Commission has worked with consultants to create an initial draft of the new bylaws that is now nearly complete. Many important policy decisions will be finalized over the coming weeks and months, and SAFE will be active with recommendations that relate to resource protection and other related issues.
On March 18 we will cover basic background on the bylaw project and where it stands at this moment. Our goal is to summarize this in an understable and non-technical manner. Then we will have some focused discussion on the zoning proposals for Shelburne's rural areas. One issue seems especially important: the consultants are proposing that allowable density be doubled from current standards in a large portion of the rural zone. These areas are a valuable resource that requires careful attention.
Please note these conversations are not sponsored by the Planning Commission or the consultant PlaceSense. They are meant to give the citizens of Shelburne another avenue for learning about the zoning rewrite process and voicing their thoughts on it.
