Vermont Symphonic Winds presents PRECLIPSE , a concert with Bella Voce Women's Chorus on Wednesday, March 13, 2024 at 7:00 p.m. at Elley-Long Music Center - Colchester, Vermont.
Bella Voce lends their voices to a performance of Gustav Holst's "The Planets" performed by the Vermont Symphonic Winds. In anticipation of the coming solar eclipse on April 8, the Vermont Symphonic Winds, conducted by music director Lisa Jablow, will present PRECLIPSE, a complete performance of "The Planets" by English composer Gustav Holst.
Each of the seven movements in the work paints a vivid musical portrait of a planet: in concert order Mars, Venus, Mercury, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus and Neptune. Interestingly, Earth is not represented because Holst created the work from an astrological perspective. Since the earth has no astrological significance, he did not include it.
Admission at the door: $15 for adults, $10 for seniors and children. Cash and Venmo only, please.
