Do you know what high school students today think about the U.S. Constitution?
The American Legion's premier high school constitutional speech contest will be held Saturday, March 16, 2024. First place=$1500 and a trip to the National Oratorical Contest in Michigan to vie for $25,000, $22,500 or $20,000.
3 finalists from contests held around Vermont (Bennington, Vergennes, Waitsfield) will present an 8-10 min. Prepared Oration without notes, podium or microphone on a citizen's duties and responsibilities under our U.S. Constitution. They will be judged by 7 judges representing the American Legion Family, community leaders and those interested in history and public speaking.
In the second phase of the contest, each contestant will address one of 4 Amendments in a 3-5 min. speech. They have known of the amendments since published May 2023. One will be randomly selected and each contestant will speak on the same amendment.

allowed to enter while a contestant is speaking.
