The Postal Service will hold a pubic meeting to allow the local community to provide feedback and perspectives on their plans to transfer the cancellation of local mail at the Burlington Distribution Facility. Their plan is to send collection mail to Hartford, CT to be cancelled there, then sent back to be sorted and delivered back to the distribution facility. This means if you send a letter or pay your bills by check, it will travel to CT to be cancelled, then travel back to be sorted and delivered. I do not know how much time will be added to the delivery time, but it does seem wasteful to send a letter out of state to be cancelled/processed, especially if it is going to be coming back to be delivered in state.
