Public Meeting to Discuss Outstanding Resource Waters

Past event

The Rockingham Library invites property owners along part of the Williams River and along Herricks or Roundys Coves for a public discussion on the Outstanding Resource Waters nominating process on Wednesday March 6 at 6:30 p.m. at the Rockingham Library, 65 Westminster St., Bellows Falls.

The Rockingham Conservation Commission, the Connecticut River Conservancy, and the Windham Regional Commission, with the support of Rockingham residents, are working on the nomination of two sites in the town of Rockingham as Outstanding Resource Waters. The Williams River Scenic Reach starts at the mill pond at Brockways Mills Road, includes Sokoki Falls and the Brockways Mills Gorge, and ends about a half mile downriver behind the Transport Park. Herricks and Roundys coves include the mouth of the Williams River, near Missing Link Road.

This discussion will explain what the ORW designation is and what it will (and won't) mean for the nominated water bodies and their abutters, and provide more details about the potentially nominated sites themselves. This meeting will give people a chance to ask questions. This program is free and open to the public.

If you have questions, contact Rockingham Conservation Commission member Peter Bergstrom at 802-444-1860 or rockinghamvtenergy@gmail.com .
