Radio Show: Peace in Gaza; Town Meeting

Past event
Mar 2, 2024, 9 AM

My first guest this week on Gathering Peace is Wafic Faour, a Palestinian who grew up in a refugee camp in Lebanon. Now living in Vermont with his family, he is a member of Vermonters for Justice in Palestine. We discuss the status of the violence in Gaza, the attempt of the Israeli government to ethnically cleanse the region, the role of the US government, and the future prospects for peace between Palestinians and those whom Wafic refers to as "my Jewish siblings."

Next, Brett Engstrom, a resident of Marshfield, discusses the move of Town Meeting to Sunday, March 3, and the need for residents to support this threatened form of direct democracy.

Finally, I talk with Duncan Nichols, who lives in Thetford, Vermont. He is a member of the Upper Valley Affinity Group, dedicated to nonviolent action on climate justice issues. He is also a principle organizer of the Vermont Peace/Anti War Coalition working for a cease fire in Gaza and the West Bank.

You can hear this issue of Gathering Peace on Saturday, Mar. 2 at 9:00 AM on WGDR 91.1 FM; WGDH 91.7 FM; online at www.wgdr.org (click on "Listen Live") or on Facebook. With on-demand streaming for two weeks after air date.
