Library Trustee Sharon Putney will host another Death Café at the Library on Thursday, March 11 at 11:00. Come for cake, coffee, tea, and open conversation. Leslie Taylor just sent me this nice description: At a Death Café, people – often strangers at first – gather to eat cake, drink tea and discuss death. The Death Café model does not include choosing specific topics, set questions or guest speakers. The view of the founders of the Death Café movement is that, "when it comes to death, people have enough to discuss already…. giving extra input or setting too much of an agenda risks being presumptuous, restrictive and/or disempowering." Some of the topics that have come up in local Death Cafes here and in Albany have been Green burial, Hospice, Death Doulas, Death with Dignity, Suicide, Advanced Directives, loss of pets, and religious traditions. Everyone is welcome!
