Visit Foxglove Farm and Forest with Mark Raishart (Landowner/Coverts Cooperator/VWA Member/VHCB Forest Program Specialist) for a discussion on Family-Focused Forest Stewardship, including family engagement in forest stewardship, long-term forest management for future generations, legacy planning and maple syrup production! The 68 acre property is a certified Tree Farm at the intersection of the northern and southern Green Mountains, the Champlain Valley, and the Taconic Mountains. The land hosts a rich diversity of plant and animal species and habitats including a large beaver pond and the headwaters to Seymour Brook. We'll tour the property and 500 tap Audubon-certified Bird Friendly sugar bush to discuss diverse management goals on the property, including maple syrup production, timber harvesting, wildlife habitat, water quality and flood mitigation, recreation and hunting, biodiversity, and carbon storage. We'll end the walk at the sugarhouse for a maple-themed brunch potluck! Please plan for uneven and wet terrain. Child friendly event. Please register here or email m.raishart@vhcb.org.
