Talent Show to Raise Money for Refugee Legal Services

Talent from around the world will be yours to view!

The organization that oversees refugee settlement in southern Vermont, the Ethiopian Community Development Center (ECDC), is having a great fundraiser on March 9th featuring local refugee (and other!) talent. When Afghan refugees arrived, the U.S. government provided funding for legal fees. Newly arrived refugees from other countries such as Eritrea, the Congo, and Yemen, do not have that financial support. Thus, ECDC has organized a fun fundraiser.

Every dollar raised from this event will go directly to a refugee legal fund ECDC has set up for helping clients with their green cards. The money will go towards high-quality and accurate legal translation, paying for legal expenses, and (if they raise enough) offsetting the cost of the medical exams.

This wonderful show will feature Afghan traditional music, handmade global fashion, Congolese rap, an interactive traditional Filipino performance, and more!

Please come and bring your family and friends.

Where? In the International Center on the School for International Training campus. 1 Kipling Road, Brattleboro

When? March 9 Doors will open at 7 pm with the show starting at 7:30.

PS: I teach English to many of these refugees, and this is such a worthwhile event. I encourage you to attend and support this fundraiser! Gloria
