Antiracism Discussion Sunday, Feb. 25 - Waitsfield Church

Past event
Feb 25, 2024, 6:30 to 8 PM

If you have grown up white, it's a sure bet that there are many race-related issues that you have never had to contend with or think about. On many levels, it's not a stretch to assert that you've been subtly taught NOT to focus on systemic racism. Yet it continues to be a divisive, deadly problem in our communities: our towns, our state, our country, and our world.

At MRVARI (the Mad River Valley Anti Racism Initiative), we seek to identify the elusive details of our cultural programming, to explore our unavoidable cultural biases, and to seek ways to bring our learning out into the world, in ways both abstract (opening to new ideas) and concrete (taking direct action). We meet once a month (4th Sunday) to discuss these issues, in a setting that is open-minded, respectful of all views, and forward-thinking.

Next meeting is this Sunday, 2/25, from 6:30-8:00 pm, at the Village Meeting House (ground floor of Waitsfield Church; enter through the back). Won't you join us? There's no need to have attended before.

Respectfully,
Wrenn Compere, facilitator
