Relocalizing VT Thursday: Do Vermonters Know Civics?

Past event
Feb 22, 2024, 9 to 10:30 AM

Coming up Thursday on Central Vermont Community Radio: What do Vermonters know about civics, and how can they learn more? Plus a winter festival planned for Hardwick this Sunday—what will they do if the weather doesn't cooperate?

9:00 - 10:00 am
Vermont Secretary of State Sarah Copeland Hanzas is promoting civics education in schools and for adults, including studying how much Vermonters volunteer in our communities and talking up the value of serving in local government. She'll also explain why the party you vote in Vermont primaries is secret—except for presidential primaries, like the one coming up in March.

Despite temperatures in the 40s this week, the Hardwick Recreation Board is holding a winter festival this Sunday, from 9 am to noon. Jason Bahner serves in local government as the town's recreation coordinator; he'll give us a preview of the plans and their contingency plans if snow cover and ice prove elusive after this week's February thaw.
