As part of their 2024 speaker series, AAUW (American Association of University Women) and Ilsley Library are hosting a presentation on Tuesday evening, February 20 at 7:00 in the Ilsley Jessica Swift meeting room, by Middlebury College Assistant Professor of Psychology Virginia (Gina) Thomas.
Her presentation, "Embracing Solitude for Psychological Well Being," will address diverse reactions to the prospect of being alone. Says Thomas, "When chosen, solitude is a restorative and generative state that plays a significant role in psychological wellbeing. But it is also a radical act in a culture that rewards extroversion and is saturated by social media." Q&A to follow. Free and open to the public.
