A little back story....
Originally I decided to host an event with a friend because though I loved Emma, I was on the fence. Burlington has become a different city. My once confident approach to navigating our community, or sending my kids out to navigate it alone, dwindled. I saw our downtown shift and felt our economy suffering. I knew we needed change, and big change, to take care of all residents and get our city back to the place that was inviting, vibrant, community-oriented, safe, thriving, and the livable city deemed "Best Places to Live" by so many. But I wasn't sure Emma was the one. I thought maybe I wanted someone a little tougher on crime.
But then I listened and I've just been blown away. I mean, have you EVER seen a campaign flyer with actionable, as thought out, and concrete steps to effect change? I haven't. This woman is far more than what we need. She's what EVERYONE needs. I believe her collaborative approach and diligent research, coupled with her experience working up stream (with state legislature), is exactly what we need to address the complex issues our city is facing. She listens. She learns. She WORKS WELL with others.
