Dive into the tiny world of mosses and lichens

Winter is a perfect time to focus on the tiny greenish things in the world—mosses and their relatives, and lichens. These small organisms capture our attention and invite us to take a closer look. We will dive into how mosses, liverworts, and hornworts are put together. We'll learn how they reproduce. We'll understand how to identify a few of the most common species. We'll also examine lichens, and learn how they're made up of fungi and algae (and sometimes other things) growing together in a mutual relationship. We'll look into how lichens reproduce, what they tell us about their habitats, and we'll learn to recognize a few notable species.
