Ash Wednesday, the start of Lent, falls on Va LENT ine's Day this year. On this day we remember how we were made from God's great Love and we return to God's Love at the end of our days. It's a day to be reflective and remember who we are and what is most important in life - loving God, loving our neighbors, loving creation and loving ourselves.
I'll be offering the imposition of ashes, "Ashes to Go" outside on Wednesday morning from 7-9am at Richmond Congregational Church, United Church of Christ.
Instructions: I'll be wearing a purple stole around my neck and a clerical collar in front of church. Simply pull up in one of the parking spaces on Church Street and I will come to your car window and impose ashes, on your forehead or hand. Or you can come outside.
Why ashes? The ashes are made from burning palm branches use on previous year's Palm Sunday.
*If you need the reminder that you are part of God's cosmic stardust, more than you need the reminder of ashes this year, I will also offer the imposition of a glitter heart or cross instead.
Richmond Congregational Church is holding an Ash Wednesday service at noon in the Sanctuary. All are welcome.
