Ash Wednesday is a reminder of human mortality and the start of the Lenten Season. You might wonder where the ashes come from? The palms from the previous year's Palm Sunday Service are burned and the ashes retained for Ash Wednesday the following year. Anyone, who wishes to receive ashes may do so, regardless of religion, age or church standing.
