For the past 2 years, Bread Loaf Mtn Zen Community has partnered with folks near and far to craft quilts to welcome refugee families resettling in Vermont and to comfort Addison County foster children. Many of these works of artful labor and love are currently on display at GATHER, 48 Merchants Row in Middlebury in the windows and inside for the next week or so. Those of you who quilt are aware of the costs involved for batting, backing, binding, and long-arming. Thus our quilts really donors to help offset costs of completion and giveaway. If you'd like to contribute to that effort, please respond to this announcement, visit our website or drop by our downtown location. GATHER is having an Open House tomorrow at 1:00 pm to celebrate our 1-year anniversary, so please come by for coffee and cake, see the quilts and meet some of the quilters (shout-out to Middlebury Milk and Honey Quilters Guild). We'll be doing an initial hand-off of several quilts to the Dept of Children and Families so come share the good vibes!
