The Mount Ascutney School District Board will be meeting on Monday, 2/12 at 6:30pm at the Windsor School (Room 210).

Our sole item for discussion at Monday's meeting will be the school budget. As many of you are aware, MASD and other districts across Vermont are navigating unprecedented waters as Montpelier considers a substantial alteration to the education tax formula in the coming weeks. A letter from the Chair of the House Ways and Means Committee provides some context as to why this change is being considered, while testimony from the Presidents of the Vermont School Boards Association (VSBA) and Vermont Superintendents Association (VSA) gives insight into the pressures that districts and boards are experiencing as a result.

Given the complexity of the present moment, I want to encourage members of our MASD community to attend Monday's meeting to engage with the board on this issue and remain informed of how we are addressing this challenging and time-sensitive situation. If you are not able to attend online or in-person a recording of this meeting will also be available from Windsor on Air and Windsor Southeast Supervisory Union within a day or two of the meeting.
