In celebration of Black History Month - on Wednesday, February 7 at 7:30pm the 2024 Farmers Night weekly performance series presents National Book Award finalist Kekla Magoon. The Vermont Humanities invites you to experience an evening with writer, educator and activist Kekla Magoon as she discusses her award-winning nonfiction book, Revolution in Out Time: The Black Panther Party's Promise to the People. The Vermont author considers the importance of reading as a tool for social change, and our power to transform communities.
This year's offerings include 12 weekly Wednesday performances, with the exception of a break for Town Meeting in early March.
The Farmers Night Concert Series is a longstanding Vermont State House tradition which goes back over 100 years to a time when lawmakers entertained themselves in the House Chamber mid-week while away from home. Artists from around the state, in genres ranging from classical music to bluegrass to barbershop, perform in the well of the House Chamber each Wednesday night during the legislative session—and the concerts are free and open to the public.
