for children, adults, and everyone interested storytelling and Africa and the diaspora.

Raouf Mama, is an award-winning storyteller, a "magical" griot, of international renown, the only one in the world today who tells folktales from his native Benin in West Africa and from other parts of the world in English, French, Yoruba, and Fon. Both entertaining and inspirational, Dr. Mama's style of presentation blends stories with poetry, music and dance, and amazing, dramatic voices. His books, enjoyed by readers of all ages, include Why Goats Smell Bad and Other Stories, Pearls of Wisdom, Zinsa et Zinhoue les Soeurs Jumelles, Contes Fon du Benin, The Barefoot Book of Tropical Tales, and Why Monkeys Live in Trees, winner of the 2008 National Multicultural Children's Book Award. If there is interest from parents, teachers, and other storytellers, he'll answer questions and talk about the importance of storytelling in child development and education. He is "Distinguished Professor of English" at Eastern Connecticut State University.
