VTDigger and WDEV radio host and podcaster David Goodman will kick off Lamoille Valley OLLI's spring presentation series with an illustrated talk on The Backcountry Skiing Renaissance. Backcountry skiing is enjoying a remarkable renaissance and is now the fastest-growing part of the ski industry. Today's backcountry skiers are following the tracks of skiers in the 1930s on trails built by the Civilian Conservation Corps.
Goodman will speak at the Stowe Cinema Triplex on Wednesday, February 7, from 1:00-2:00 pm. Doors open at 12:30 pm.
A Waterbury Center resident, Goodman writes regularly for the New York Times. His work has also appeared in the Boston Globe, Outside, Mother Jones, Ski, Powder, Backcountry, and other national publications. He is the recipient of the 2023 Paul Robbins Journalism Award from the Vermont Ski & Snowboard Hall of Fame.
