Vermont Natural Resources Council (VNRC) is proud to present "Plant Portraiture in Watercolor", a series of paintings by Susan Bull Riley of East Montpelier, as part of tonight's Montpelier Art Walk. Susan was attracted to the world of botanical watercolors by the meditative process of setting a plant in front of her and painting it as faithfully as possible. As she writes, "it's a slow art form that marries precise drawing, beautiful composition, and a willingness to stay seated for what can be an unreasonably long time, racing to capture the leaf or bloom before wilt sets in." Susan's work can be seen in galleries around the state, and also online at her website, https://www.susanbullriley.com/.
Our office, venue #16, will be open to visitors from 4:30 to 7:30 pm, and Susan will be on-site to talk about her methods and inspiration. Light refreshments, including homemade baked goods and hot cocoa, will be served while supplies last. Another exhibit worth checking out is the "Eye of Senator Leahy", which showcases photographs taken by Patrick Leahy over his many decades of public service. You can see these photos at the Vermont Supreme Court Gallery, our neighbors to the east and venue #17.
