Visiting Artist, Jacqueline Surdell will give an Artist Talk at Vermont Studio Center in the Red Mill Building on Friday, February 16 at 8:00 pm ET, 2024. This event is free and open to the public.
Jacqueline Surdell is from Chicago, IL. The City's history of industry, labour, and Midwest grit plays a significant role in Surdell's tri-dimensional work. She received a BA from Occidental College in Los Angeles and her MFA in Fiber and Material Studies from School of the Art Institute of Chicago. Her recent solo and group exhibitions include, her first solo museum exhibition, Adoration Garden, at the Abroms-Engel Institute for the Visual Arts (AEIVA) Birmingham, Alabama; Devening Projects, Chicago, Library Street Collective, Detroit; Hyde Park Art Center, Chicago; Bedford Gallery, San Francisco and international shows in Japan, Belgium, and the Netherlands. In 2022 Surdell received a Pollock-Krasner Foundation grant in sculpture to attend Vermont Studio Center and was a 2023 Chicago Artadia Finalist.
