SAVE THE DATE - PRESS EVENT - MONDAY 9-29-14
Over the past two decades victims and survivors, law enforcement professionals, advocates, prosecutors, legislators, and others have worked to dramatically improve the response to crimes against women and gender-based violence. Much progress has been made while much more work needs to be done. Recent high profile events in the NFL are emblematic of the scope and depth of this ongoing challenge.
In furtherance of our goal to end domestic and gender based violence, the International Association of Chief’s of Police conducted a Leadership Institute on Violence Against Women at the Hilton Hotel in Burlington, in June of 2014. Present for this event were leaders from a host of organizations ranging from the VT Network Against Domestic & Sexual Violence to law enforcement organizations (State, County, and local agencies – the VT Attorney General’s Office and the VT Criminal Justice Training Council) from throughout Vermont.
Stoptheviolencevt emerged from this event. This multidisciplinary effort has but one goal - to further expand our service to all of Vermont to end relationship and gender-based sexual violence, which is fundamental to the safety and health of our State.
On Monday September 29 at 10 AM as we embark on Domestic Violence Awareness Month 2014, law enforcement, advocates, prosecutors, and others will announce new efforts in this arena for 2015. Please join us!
