"We're Never Too Old to Play" is the opening event for "Creative Play for Seniors," a series of weekly workshops exploring storytelling, poems, songs, skits, and improvisation. Three longtime friends and collaborators (who are also older adults): Marv Klassen-Landis, Ham Gillett, and Michael Zerphy, will lead arts activities that offer fun and creative ways to learn new things, interact with others, and explore personal expression.
We'll begin on Friday, February 9 at 4 pm with "We're Never Too Old to Play," an introductory performance by the workshop leaders at NWPL. Everyone is welcome!
An exciting series of hands-on workshops encompassing literature, theater, and music will be held the following seven Fridays from 1:00 - 2:30 pm at the Thompson Senior Center:
= 2/16 Workshop 1: Read and Discuss - What comes up for us when we read?
= 2/23 Workshop 2: Oral Interpretation - Would you like to be a bit more expressive?
= 3/1 Workshop 3: Storytelling - We all have stories; we all are stories.
= 3/8 Workshop 4: Personal Writing - Ever get stuck while writing?
= 3/15 Workshop 5: Stepping Out of the Shower - Everyone sings in the shower, right?
= 3/22 Workshop 6: Theater Games - If you enjoy charades, you will love this!
= 3/29 Workshop 7: Readers Theater - Let's pick a play and read it out loud together.
We'll wrap up the program back at NWPL on Friday, April 12 at 4 pm with "Sharing Our Creative Play!" – a time to celebrate with family and friends.
