The Montgomery Center for the Arts & The Fletcher Free Library in Burlington VT present " Voices from Ukraine VT "
A month-long program introducing Vermonters to the art, images, stories, culture and food of Ukrainian people whose lives have been disrupted by Russia's unprovoked invasion in February 2022. An art show curated by M Sebastian Araujo from the MCA includes work by children and teens currently living in Krakow, Poland, attending the Kingdom School as refugees whose parents often in the military remain in their country despite Russian occupation and bombardments. This project was created as a way to help share the stories of these young people who have been affected by the ongoing war. Participatory activities, tailored to children, youth and adults, include story times, films, hands-on art activities, a live video discussion with Ukrainian participants beginning with an Opening Reception on February 3, 2024 11AM – 1 PM at the Fletcher Free Library, 235 College Street Burlington VT, highlighting the flavors of Ukrainian culture and the students work will be on exhibit there will be a few interesting speakers to share the love and support for this important work. There will be a series of Ukrainian films on view hosted by several film people throughout February. The show is on view daily in the Pickering Room at the Fletcher Free Library through the month of February all proceeds from the sale of art and any donations will directly to the Kingdom School to aid these students as they continue to deal with life during wartime.
