The Madsonian Museum hosts its first annual design awards on Sunday, January 28, from 4 to 7 p.m. Eight design awards will be presented honoring unique, artistic, and lasting designs. The award will be presented at the museum along with a discussion on design and its impacts. Admission is free and refreshments will be available.
The awards go to:
Robert Burley in recognition of his work preserving the Pavilion Hotel in Montpelier.
John Connell for his unique first Yestermorrow house in Waitsfield.
Stevenson Flemer for his modern vernacular house in Waitsfield on Route 100.
Jim Henry for his evolution of the modern canoe, Mad River Canoe Company.
Duncan Syme for his designs for Vermont Castings, pioneering wood stove design.
John Anderson, for his integration of art in public places including the skylights at the Burlington airport.
Richard Travers for his efficient wood stove, the ELM.
Kyle Clark and BETA Technologies for its first electric airplane.
