Holocaust Remembrance Day, Safety Through Solidarity

Past event
Jan 27, 2024, 10:30 AM to 12 PM

We will gather on the Vermont Statehouse lawn to create a community ritual of safety by coming together to sing, offer prayers and dance. We welcome all allies to come and take part, and create communal safety in our Vermont communities .

As Jews we honor our ancestors killed in the Nazi genocide in Europe. Palestinians are now undergoing a genocide. They have endured two Nakbas. We envision a world where all people — from the U.S. to Palestine — live in freedom, justice, equality, and dignity. Because of our families' experience, we know it is our responsibility to fight against genocide, especially when it is done in our name. As we join with our ancestors, families and communities, we work to transform this lineage of grief in order to step into solidarity towards liberation for all of us in Vermont, Palestine and Israel. We will not allow our grief to become weaponized, to kill, bomb, and displace others.

At 1pm we will join 350VT and allies to envision the Vermont we are working toward. Rally at the Montpelier City Hall at 1pm and then March to the Statehouse. We will march as a 'Palestine Safety Through Solidarity' contingent.
