The neighborhood mid-winter celebration, Winterlude, is a little over two weeks away and preparations for the magic are underway. Artistic vellum lanterns with small LED candles make for a wonderful, warming sight on a cold winter evening. And we will have dozens of them on display for Friday, February 2nd from 5pm -7 pm and thereafter for the rest of February in Schmanska Park (85 Grove Street).
If you would like to discover how to make the lanterns and have some fun with your neighbors, join us on Sunday, January 28th from 2 pm to 4 :30 pm at the Schmanska Park Barn. We will have all the supplies and instructions needed for designing and assembling your own lanterns. It's fun for everyone from ages 6 and older. You may take your lantern home or leave it for the winter celebration and pick it up at the end of February, whichever you prefer.
We'll also need a hand repairing some older lanterns from previous years. In all, we hope to have over 100 lanterns lighting up Schmanska Park for the celebration.
And don't forget to mark your calendar for Winterlude Friday, February 2nd 5 pm to 7 pm and Saturday, Feb 3rd 11 am to 3 pm. On Friday night, enjoy the decorative lights, community firepit, and a hot drink. On Saturday, there will be winter sports equipment to use, music, food, hot drinks and good cheer.
