Global Kite Flight in Solidarity with Gaza
All Ages Event - WEATHER PERMITTING
In 2011 the children of Gaza set a world record by flying 12,350 kites at Al-Waha beach in Gaza. One child who flew kites that day said that "flying kites help us forget the trauma of war."
Sunday, 2 p.m. at Atkins Park in Hardwick come fly a kite on International Kite Day as part of a day of global solidarity and joy for the children of Gaza. This will be part of over 90 events in 18 countries across the globe for the youngest victims of conflict and to remind the world that all children have a right to safety and protection.
If weather is not permitting we will gather for a short time to admire our kites. Bring a sign!
