The Uncertain Future of the Wild Worcester Range

Past event

Join Standing Trees and the Save Public Forests Coalition on Monday, Jan 22 from 6-7:30pm at Montpelier's Kellogg-Hubbard Library for a presentation and conversation about the future of the Worcester Range, central Vermont's beloved wild backyard.

Nearly 19,000-acres of this exceptional landscape, from Waterbury to Elmore, is co-owned by each and every Vermonter and managed by Vermont's Agency of Natural Resources. VT ANR is preparing the first-ever management plan for this vast area, and they need to hear from you!

Ten percent, or 1,900-acres of this special region in the heart of the Green Mountains is proposed for timber harvest, and half of the landscape will be opened to future logging, including a majority of Elmore State Park. The state's draft plan was released in December, and the public has until Friday, February 2nd to submit comments.
