Opening Reception for Teacher Student Critic

Past event
Jan 14, 2024, 2 to 3 PM

Join us at Minėmå Gallery for the reception of Teacher Student Critic- a conceptual group show of oil paintings, lumen photography, and writings on Sunday, January 14th, from 2-3pm. Good chocolate and hot tea will be served. ALL are welcome! Minėmå is located at 2 Lower Main Street East, Johnson.

Teacher Student Critic expands on the universal Student/Teacher relationship, specifically taking note of the unique 7-year relationship that has developed between Victoria Zolnoski (Teacher/Professor of Fine Art) and Caroline Loftus (Student/Master of Fine Arts) during their tenure at Vermont State University.

Torry and Caroline's deep reverence for flora and fauna is showcased through various inventive material processes. Playful techniques combining a degree of artistry and alchemy feel as mysterious as they are spontaneous.

The third component of the show is Mary Martin (Critic/ Head of the Master of Fine Arts Program VSU/Johnson). Her written, poignant, and poetic perspective, mindfully weaves together the many threads that flow in and out of both Victoria and Caroline's work while highlighting individual expression.

Thanks to the perseverance and activism of Mary Martin regarding reinstated cuts to the visual art programs at Vermont State College, this exhibit feels timely and more important than ever. Minėmå Gallery is honored to showcase the spirit and value that exists within the college experience and those who create a unique language for us as viewers to experience.

Teacher Student Critic is on view through February 17th. For more information, visit www.minemagallery.com and follow us on FB and Instagram.
